Researching the special nature of checklists, I found this convoluted quote by Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett's partner:

"No wise pilot, no matter how great his talent and experience,
fails to use his checklist."

A sentence with 3 negatives is a bit much, Charlie.

More positively stated, and based on my personal experience as a pilot:

Every wise pilot,
even the most talented and experienced,
will use his checklist,
or he will die.

Michael McCafferty

The checklist is the pilot's moment of humility.
He subordinates his (massive) ego to follow the checklist,
because if he doesn't, he will die.

Checklists save lives,
and businesses,
but only if they are used.

I also found these thoughts by some remarkable people:

The checklist is one of the most high powered productivity tools ever discovered.
~ Brian Tracy

My books are always tactical, bullet lists, this is what you need to do because I'm trying to appeal to people who are trying to change the world and they need checklists. ~ Guy Kawasaki

Rename your “To-Do” list to your “Opportunities” list. Each day is a treasure chest filled with limitless opportunities; take joy in checking many off your list. ~ Steve Maraboli

One of the secrets of getting more done is to make a TO DO List every day, keep it visible, and use it as a guide to action as you go through the day. ~ Jean de La Fontaine

A checklist cannot fly a plane. Instead, they provide reminders of only the most critical and important steps.
Atul Gawande

Under conditions of complexity, not only are checklists a help, they are required for success.
Atul Gawande

The checklist cannot be lengthy. A rule of thumb some use is to keep it to between five and nine items, which is the limit of working memory.
Atul Gawande

No matter how expert you may be, well-designed checklists can improve outcomes.
~ Steven Levitt

Checklists seem lowly and simplistic, but they help fill in for the gaps in our brains and between our brains. ~ Atul Gawande

I make lists to keep my anxiety level down. ~ Mary Roach

Origin Story

Why do some people find it easy to succeed in life and in business, while others have such difficulty?

Working as advisor to startup CEO/founders for the last twenty-plus years, certain patterns have become evident in support of a general theory:

There are two essential elements to success in life and business.

1. Thoughts - the ability to make good judgements based on knowledge and experience. We address this critical need with our app ToBeWise™ to gain superior wisdom fast. Learn from the experience of the greatest minds in history as well as present day genius business founders and investors.

3. Actions - You can have the best thinking but it only matters if you take action. ProductName focuses on continuous improvement of the most important actions that happen frequently and consistently. It's our easy to use, highly effective method for creating super-powerful habits. This builds confidence, reduces stress, and delivers the results you want.

The net effect of good thoughts and actions is remarkable. Read what users say.

User Feedback

What early users have written about ProductName

ProductName software has transformed my life.
Seeing how my time is actually spent versus how I thought I was spending my time was an unpleasant surprise, but ProductName has allowed me to optimize my day so I can get as much work done as possible, while still having time for other critical activities in my life.Due to its layout,

ProductName makes it easier to add new habits as well. Over the last three years, I have tried to add meditation to my daily routine without success. Since I started using ProductName, I've not only found the time to meditate, but have no longer been able to make excuses to myself about how I didn't have enough time to.

ProductName is my unfair advantage - while other entrepreneurs struggle to figure out how to structure their time and their business in parallel, I am able to focus on the problems the day throws at me, knowing that my day is optimally structured. I highly recommend this software to any high-performance individual looking to enhance their workflow and work-life balance simultaneously.
GC, CEO, startup, San Diego, CA

ProductName is masterful in that it incorporates goal setting,
productivity tracking and personal growth attributes!
What I love most is that it is customizable which is critical
because everyone’s requirements and preferences are different.
Is there more to rave about?  Yes.  It is simple, it is motivating and
when you are lagging (which you knew you were)
but now it is right in front of you and quantifiable.
The result of using ProductName has been an incredible, measurable increase in my focus. More importantly, I know it will be instrumental in helping me to achieve my goals.
Oh and there are cool charts too if you like to see the data displayed in that format type.
CLG, CEO, CPA, Attorney, San Diego, CA

I have benefited from some surprising unintended consequences from following this system. My mind is clear when I’m working on a task.
By sticking to my schedule I never feel like I am drifting or leading a purposeless life.
I’ve learned that taking consistent action toward my goals is the best way to build momentum, and I think that’s the key word here. Taking action gets easier and easier as I go along.
On a daily basis, I have noticed taking action on these goals requires much less effort and is much more enjoyable.
SS, CEO, medical device startup, San Diego, CA

I feel like I have transcended to a new level from a functional perspective,
not just as CEO but as husband and dad.
Every day that I use this I feel like I am more effective than the day before.
It is tangible and rewarding to go in there each day and check things off,
and reflect on the reason why I may have fallen short in any other area.  Thanks.
DN, CEO, eCommerce Software and Design, San Diego, CA.

ProductName has dramatically shifted my approach to achieving success.
It goes beyond helping you plan and organize your day.
It helps you discover your barriers to success and challenges you to
figure out the right types of activities and performance indicators that will
keep you motivated and moving forward. A key product feature is the ability to choose where to focus your attention each day.
ProductName isn’t a static to-do list. It creates mindfulness because you have to consciously choose how to achieve your daily point target.
That feature is a game changer because it gives you flexibility with accountability.
ProductName is the “MyFitnessPal” app for success!”

Laptop context

Keeping the checklist open all the time, in a separate window is best, is a constant reminder of the most important things to do, a trigger to your focus and action.

I like how the quote changes every once in a while, and may get your attention, or not, depending on how much you are focusing on what you really should be doing.

Graphical analysis of how I'm using my time lately

Recent graphical presentations of how I'm focusing my time. The charts are so much more informative, and motivational than a bunch of numbers and checkboxes. These charts, and many others, are standard with ProductName Pro version.
